Yes, a security deposit of US$1250 is required. This security deposit will be released at the end of the rental period once there is no damage to the rental vehicle and all accounts are settled. The deposit is taken in the form of an authorization transaction. In an authorization transaction the funds are frozen or held on your credit or debit card. This is NOT a purchase transaction. For renters who opt to take Island Car’s optional CDW plans the security deposit will be adjusted to fit the respective CDW plan.
Yes you do. Currently Island Car Rental does not have any agreements with credit card companies; and as a result you would be required to do a security deposit. Based on the renter’s credit card’s car rental insurance policy, the renter would decide whether they take Island Car Rental’s optional CDW. In the case of a collision or any damages to the rental vehicle, Island Car would charge the renter directly. All documentation related to the incident would be made available to the renter via fax or email. Island Car Rental, doesn’t not deal directly with Credit Card Company’s insurance.
